Unknown to the crew is that the ship was also sent to the system to search for and, possibly, rescue the crew of a ship named the Degasi, which crashed on planet 4546B ten years prior. The Aurora, an inferred deep-space vessel constructed by the Alterra Corporation, has been sent to a system at the outer reaches of known space on its maiden voyage under the pretenses of constructing high-speed space travel infrastructure. Subnautica takes place in the late 22nd century in a spacefaring future.
The game supports VR headsets, such as the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, with the additional input of a keyboard and mouse or game controller. Additionally, the submersibles, a stasis rifle, a Seaglide, a mobile vehicle bay, and a propulsion cannon are provided, which do not need an energy source to operate. In creative mode, all depleting characteristics, such as health and thirst, are removed, all blueprints are unlocked, and the player can craft without needing resources.Additionally, the player does not receive warnings of low oxygen levels as they would in other modes. Subnautica is a survival action-adventure game set in an open world environment and played from a first-person perspective. A sequel, Subnautica: Below Zero, was released May 14, 2021. By January 2020, more than five million copies had been sold.

They are free to explore the oceanic planet. Players control a non-essential systems maintenance chief - often referred to as the janitor inside the Subnautica community - who is the only survivor of a spaceship crash on an alien planet. It is advised to be cautious when leaving the Mountain Range Caves as one could stumble onto a Reaper Leviathan that could be close to one of the cave entrances.Subnautica is an action-adventure game developed and published by Unknown Worlds Entertainment. Reaper Leviathans can be frequently heard roaring outside, and for good reason. This cave system also contains harvestable Coral Shell Plates, unlike the other one. There are also a few hydrothermal vents located at some points in the cave system. One can find Ruby and Uraninite Crystals pretty easily here, and Magnetite dots the cave ceiling. The other caves contain the rest in a good amount. Notable flora include Eye Stalks and Spiked Horn Grass. The only harvesting node found in these is Shale Outcrops.
The first does not contain any kind of Fauna or Drooping Stingers, but Cave Crawlers can follow the player here from the surface. There are two types of cave systems on this biome: The Mountain Island Underwater Caves and the Mountains Caves. The Mountains Caves is a large cavernous system located inside the mountain ranges, next to the Kelp Forest, Bulb Zone, Mushroom Forest, and the Underwater Islands.
